I have been digging in dirt for as long as I can remember. My current garden began in 2001 when I moved to Olympia's east side. Before that I gardened at the Evergreen Vista Community Garden, where I met some wonderful friends and became acquainted with mustard greens.
I garden on my 1/8 acre lot on Olympia's east side. Well actually... I primarily garden on the front of my lot. My garden reflects my personality. The backyard is something I will get around to someday. I do not want a backyard retreat hidden away from my neighbors. I want a front yard garden that invites community!
One of the great things about gardening in Olympia, Washington is that we are in a maritime climate that brings wet temperate winters despite our northern latitude. Although we are as far north as Maine, we are in USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7.
I am always interested in trading plants with other gardeners. It's a great way to create more diversity in our yards and communities. If you live in the Olympia area and would like to trade for one of my plants, just let me know. I have a list of my front yard plants at the bottom of my blog. Please note that not all plants listed are available for trade, but I am willing to share what I can.
What topics would you like me to address in this blog?
